To get started you need to place a bet on the pass line. This is during the come out roll where the shooter is trying to establish the point number. Once a point number has been established, you are best to ‘take the odds’ on this particular bet and place some chips directly behind your bet on the pass line. This way if the shooter throws the required number you will get paid the odds on the money behind. For example, a 6 or 8 pay 6 to 5, a 9 or 5 pay 9/5 odds and a 4 or 10 pay 2-1.
