Casino War
Casino war is the easiest game to play in the casino and the clue is in the name- you are effectively at war with the casino and each of you are armed with one card each. The best card will win! The games is very simple and works as follows-
The dealer and the player are both dealt a card face up. The player which has the highest card wins. The highest card in the pack is the Ace, so in an ideal world this would be the first card you get! Of course the card which you receive each time will vary greatly and you will win and lose an equal number of times against the dealer should you play infinitely. 46.3% of the time you will win. The edge comes into play when the dealer and the player are tied at casino war. When this is the case the player has two choices-
1. Surrender half of his initial bet and give up the card.
2. Match his initial bet and go to 'war' with the dealer. If he wins the player gets paid on his initial bet only. Should the player lose he will lose both bets.
Some casinos offer the chance to get a bonus payment when going to war. If this is the case it always makes sense to go to war. Otherwise, then surrender. Over a prolonged period you will lose against the dealer, but a short visit and run of hands can be very profitable, especially if you win a few hands having parlayed each time. Anyhow, the game is as simple as that, so if you want to stop by a casino war table, you know what to expect!
